What are meta tags?

Meta tags are a way of conveying information about your site to search engines.

In the early days of the web, they were very important. Because of consistent spamming - overloading words, adding in irrelevant words - they've been devalued, possibly to zero.
They're still used by some search engines.

The generator tag describes the software used to generate web pages for the site. By far the most commonly encountered generator is WordPress.
